A Woman's Initiation is a collection of stories about eighteen ordinary women living unexamined, unchallenged lives. Then each was diagnosed with breast cancer. After intially struggling with the intruder in her characteristic style, each woman surrendered, allowing cancer to strip her clean of her old skin, making way for a new, more authentic self to emerge.
