What amazed me the most while reading this, is that some of the statements of these people can easily be applied to today's society and view of women. Over a century has passed, but the sexism prevailed. 
Also, I would urge the women who proudly state that they are not feminists to read this book. Perhaps reading the convictions of their narrow minded predecessors will make them realise how ridiculous they sound.
