I had to read this book for my asian american lit class. Probably one of the most enjoyable reads that I had. The beginning was so relatable because the three main characters were in their first year of college, just like me. Eric, the narrator, was a weak and passive character for the most part, but I don't think it was too big of a problem, as the novel mainly focuses on Joshua and the three friends' relationships. So Eric has a good voice and personality for the narration. A few parts of the book were incredibly frustrating whether it's how the characters act or how society reacts towards the characters. Some parts felt a bit too exaggerated. However, the book's exaggeration is good at starting dialogue about racism towards Asian Americans, and really made me, as an Asian American, reflect on my life and what type of Asian American I am.
