Almost DNF’d this twice… just tend to lose interest with completely unnecessary slurs. Story was fine. I think the concept seemed more interesting than the execution which was kind of thin on plot, or story, or character development… It was a short book, so I kept going because the main character is from Toronto and I am too and that never happens in sci fi (station eleven excepted) but it wasn’t really worth it tbh. I give short books a bit more leeway with character development and world building as a rule but there is no excuse for me to have not really clearly been able to tell my partner what this was a story about, or what the happens in the book, until like, the last chapter. I would have taken less nipple description in trade for a better outline of the “tribe” rivalries at any point in the book.
