Looking Backward

Edward Bellamy was an influential American author and socialist in the late 19th century. Bellamy is most famous for the utopian novel Looking Backward which led to the formation of many Nationalist Clubs that were dedicated to the political ideas he portrayed. Looking Backward, published in 1888, is considered one of the only books in history that led to an immediate political mass movement. The book tells the story of a young American man named Julian West who falls into a deep sleep and wakes up in the year 2000.
