I still haven't shared my love with anyone and my desire, my desire, my desire can't be a grape drying in the sun.

I struggled a a little with this one because while I enjoyed the intimate, conversational style of the prose, I struggled to wrap my head around the death of Nora. I wondered, why did Nora have to die? Why couldn't Nora join her sister to become beautiful by having left, having seen? While I loved the emotional complexity of having undying love her a disabled sibling as well as a distain for being their fulltime caretaker, it felt like they should have subverted that trope. If a small town is stifling and to escape be liberation, escape be beautiful and bountiful, then let Nora have her happy ending! May need to ruminate on this one and re-read when I'm older in case there's something I missed. Was a very accurate emotional portrait of growing up in a small town with backcountry eyes.
