I HAD to read this book! As you can read from the synopsis, the world of The Farm is one terrifying place. The constant danger and imprisonment would completely break me down. I wouldn’t be able to survive, I can guarantee you this. The stakes and the tension in this book just keep rising and rising with each page. It really was hard to put down once it hits its stride. The first couple of chapters were a little slow, so don’t get discouraged because you’re going to be in for one hell of a ride. While the story itself is very exciting, what really won me over were the characters. Both Lily and Mel had admirable characteristics. Both so different, yet the same, as only twins can be. I loved how they came first to each other, above everything else. While Lily was the tough one, Mel was the strong one, and I loved that. And Carter...oh, Carter. He was also one tough cookie, with his hidden agenda and all. I wanted to shake him a lot of the times. I did appreciate the fact that Emily McKay made him such a believable guy, because only real guys would think and say the things he did at times, lol. I am also SO completely intrigued by Sebastian’s character. I have a feeling that he is going to surprise me in the next book... Lily and Mel are both very important to Carter and Sebastian’s agenda, but I’m still not sure how it’s all going to work. Especially after that ending! It’s going to be really interesting to see if the most affected character in the end will change in the next book. Fans of dark, post-apocalyptic worlds will devour this book. I, for one, am dying to continue this series!
