this author's books are usually just... meh. . And the characters in this series always seem so juvenile. But this one gets an extra star for its realistic portrayal of a person in a wheelchair and the emotional turmoil and social fear that situation can cause. Eric is good at presenting flawed protagonists with true to life disabilities, I'll grant him that.

This is the first Erik Schubach book that I've read. He has so many, and some sound so cheesy I wasn't interested. However, I saw this one, sounded interesting with good reviews so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I started off with this one.

Reese is a paraplegic programmer who isolates herself in an apartment that she shares with 2 roommates, Gwen & Marcie. Reese only ventures out for groceries and an occasional coffee. One evening one of her clients calls desperate for Reese's help. The Ballyhoo Lesbian Club's wifi is down on a busy Friday night. They need wifi for the wait staff's iPads and credit charges. At the bar she literally rolls into a punk rocker type, Sarah. From here we travel with Reese as she navigates a I friendship with Sarah. Sarah whom from the beginning treated Reese no differently than an able bodied person. I have mobility issues though not close to Reese's. However, I can relate to some of her struggles and obstacles- such as stairs and shelves out of reach. 

I really liked Reese and Sarah. Reese's relationship with her roommates is complicated and I didn't totally buy into drama and angst that is inevitable before HEA. Nevertheless, I enjoyed this easy and quick read. So much that I'm planning to read a few books in this series that are prior to this one. Although it is not necessary to read earlier books, I'm curious about some of the character's stories that are only mentioned in this book.
