I have a lot of respect for Singer in that he seeks to make academic knowledge practical. Furthermore, he seems to walk the walk when it comes to his ideals. While I question his God-less, utilitarian ethical method - and therefore many of his conclusions - almost every essay was deeply stimulating and thought provoking and helped me think through things. Singer is especially strong on animal ethics.
