Actually cried at the end. This was probably by favorite of the series thus far.

This book was somehow a bit more gory than the rest. As I read the book I realized how much DD has grown on me. The murders in this case... ouch. A woman who can feel no pain, even amid torture? More ouch. I’ll admit I’m not very good at this kind of gore - give me guns shots over peeled skin any day.
Anyway I sympathized a lot with DD and her team. Adeline is a very complex and interesting character. A bit morally gray, even though I was super surprised at the ending. I’ll reread the ending in a while.
I’ll say after 8 DD Warren stories I’ve gotten better at guessing who the bad guy is. Lisa Gardner likes choosing someone we already know as the bad guy (except in Find Her, which I remember slightly differently). My heart chills a bit at this villain doing... that. If he had never stood up, nobody would’ve known his secret, ya know? 
Anyway this book is 8.5/10 for me. I can’t say for sure it’s my favorite of hers so far (I think that would have to be Love You More, for the complex family bonds) but yeah! This wasn’t just a page turner, I was consumed by anxiety while reading this but in a good way I suppose.

I have read many of the D.D Warren books and I have enjoyed them all. This one is no different. I thought this novel had a very unique premise. I liked the perspective of both of the sisters and that most of the people were morally grey. Highly recommend.
