The essays by other authors and fanfiction writers were more interesting than Jamison’s sections. She reads to me as someone that will always look at fic with an academic lens instead of just being a fan.

I also resent that a major chunk of the book was dedicated to essays and her own writings on Twilight fanfiction. It definitely should be mentioned, but she could’ve cut so much of those discussions and included other fandoms that didn’t make her cut. Anime was for sure given the shaft by this book.
