Lately, I have been very much into poetry, especially Portuguese poetry which is something that I didn't know very well unfortunately and I kinda had this dumb idea that it was something slightly boring and confusing. It is so not boring and Florbela Espanca is actually pretty easy to comprehend. I decided to pick this up as soon as I saw it because although it never really crossed my mind to read Florbela Espanca I had been super addicted to listening to a song that was written by a poem by her called "O poeta" (which is also included in this book, if your wondering). And since I loved the lyrics of the song/the poem so much I got into a whole thick book with all the most well-known sonnets of Florbela Espanca. I enjoy this very very much. I must admit that sometimes it is a bit repetitive, the themes are very similar and she always mentions either dead, love, sadness, nature, God, "saudade" and so on... There were moments I even thought I had already that poem. That was the reason why I gave it 4 stars, and I would advise to maybe read two poems a day or something like that because I read a lot more and maybe that's why I found it extra repetitive. Nevertheless, her words and the sentiment that she so transparently translates into her phrases really left me feeling emotional and I think she is probably my favorite poet at the moment.
