Fragments is an exciting, suspenseful continuation of Partials that answers some of the questions from the last book, and gets readers to ask so many more. For a series based so heavily on often overused sci-fi tropes, Dan Wells manages to find new ideas to explore with interesting characters. The pacing of the book is good, and Wells manages to make a long journey across a wasteland feel tense and dramatic. Chapters flip between the perspectives of the characters we met in book 1, and Wells manages several sub-plots at once without giving away too little or too much. Book 2 seems to be leading us to a very gripping ending in Ruins, and I am looking great forward to seeing how this all ties together.
