This book is a “booktok intrigued me” book. And I wanted to quit this book so many times and I finally did 76% into the book. I’m just done with it. The writer is clearly talented and knows how to phrase sentences well but the story itself was like trying to squeeze water from a dry rag. I found this book lacking. Barely any buildup, the FMC is smitten and her wobbly knees right away make her almost 2 dimensional even though her trauma is the *the* plot point of the book (I don’t think trauma should be a character’s only color or personality, but that’s me) and the lack of descriptions except for how hot the characters wasn’t enough for me. Bonus: I found the way the MMC approached people in addiction to be abhorrent. These entitled and selfish characters are villains that we’re supposed to love because they’re rich and in control and in love. I don’t not finish books, but I can’t finish this one.
