Georges Perec (1936-82), author of the novel Life: A User's Manual, was one of the most surprising and enjoyable of all modern French writers. Perec dissects conditions of being and the space we occupy, which in return, occupies us. From bed, to apartment, to clothes, receipts, observations, suffering, etc. I love the wordplay he has throughout the book, it felt like i was reading his journals with stuck-in receipts and notes.
