Where to even start this book is about a teenage girl and her thoughts and experience's . there not all happy and bright but they are real and heart breaking . as someone who had dealt with addiction it messes you up and becomes a security blanket . I would totally recommend this book but with that said there's good and bad to this book .....

Good :
-Amazing prospective into an addicts mind
- motivation to stay strong and get better
- a true understanding to what goes on in life when dealing with a life changing illness .
- And so much more i cant put into words

Bad :
- contains mentions of drugs death and sexual abuse and maybe triggering to some 


BUT over all this book was amazing and the ending made me cry mary rose was brave and sarcastic and did what she could do with the cards she was delt . being rised in certain environments could not have been easy . i know for a fact growing up with an illness is not easy .

Another heartbreaking story, and this one is true. Mary-Rose has bad examples, bad health, and bad choices. Her challenges in life are nearly completely unfamiliar to me, yet her teenage exuberance comes through. She worries about crushes and whether she can trust her friends while grappling with illness, addiction, and a mother who seems to disregard her needs. We must remember that this is her life through her private diaries and letters, however, which may skew it to the gripy side. Still, there's no denying that she suffered though severe problems most of us will never know. Her story is one I won't forget.

This book is going on my classroom bookshelf. I have many students clamoring to read it.

Read during a car ride. It was very good and insightful into another person's life. If you want to read something to understand what someone else faces it's a great book!

Wow. This is one of those stories that will stay with me for much longer than the time it took for me to read it. I don't want to call this a "true story" as it is more a "true storytelling" as it is a series of diary entries as told by a teenager struggling with addiction, a horrible family situation, and cystic fibrosis. What sticks with me even more is that Mary Rose was a couple of months younger than me. What would life had been like if she lived to be my age? Would she have become an author? Would she repeat the cycle of bad decisions? Would she still be a dreamer, looking for love in all the wrong places? Unfortunately, we will never know, but we can live with her thoughts knowing that when we feel alone, others out there do as well.
