This book is poignant and highly expressive that the relationship between mother and kid is so difficult but yet un called love binds them and they do bond with the same feeling.

Picked this up because of this Instagram review I saw. It is beyond me how this was longlisted for the Booker prize, will be discounting all "award winning" books henceforth.

It started strong, especially because I strongly identified with Antara's hate for her parent. But went downhill from chapter 2. Some reviewers seem to take issue with how disgusting some characters are - I actually don't care much and that's telling. Because I'm nearly halfway into the book and I simply do not care for any single character. 

It can also be a great case study on how descriptive prose can be absolutely meaningless.
