Okay. So, I get that this book was a political statement.

But that is NO EXCUSE to introduce like, tons of mysteries in this book and then NEVER EVER SOLVE THEM.
Why do they need babies? Why are the babies failing to thrive? Why are none of the citizens maturing?
(Because they're not being raised by their parents?)
I don't think so. Orphanages have been a staple of humanity from around the beginning, and while those kids don't always turn out AMAZING, they usually turn out ALL RIGHT. 

I really did love the CHARACTERS, though. Or at least the Main Character, Emmeline. She was just so vulnerable and naive, and I just loved her and wanted to protect her from all the bad things.

This was an all right book, but I just wish there'd been more.
