This book was AWESOME! I loved the Greek mythology spin.

           Recommended by a friend. I felt that the plot was dragged out quite a bit and was just had a bit too much action for me (I want books to be realistic - even if they're fantasy) but otherwise, I enjoyed this and fangirled over the couple a few times. xD

So, as a fanatic for greek mythology, and after reading Percy Jackson, I was like: 'Hey, this looks nice! Greek gods and all those things! That must be a good read.' 
Was I right?
No. 
Was it really that bad? 
Yes. 

 Characters 
Let's start from Helen. 
Helen Hamilton.  The smart, athletic, beautiful, perfect Helen Hamilton. She feels like a freak, the whole school hates her, she never had a boyfriend but all the guys think that she's a freakin' angel! And suddenly, BOOM! She finds out that she really is special like she always thought she was! She has all those super powers! She is as fast as Superman, she can fly, weapons can't hurt her, and wait, because all that stuff isn't enough, she also shoots bolts. But, oh, her life still sucks. 
Really? REALLY? 
I don't know about you, but all that Mary Sue stuff is for me one of the worst things that happened to literature! 

Now, there's Lucas Delos. Mr. supermodelish. He of course falls for the perfect Helen. He loves her sooo much! He can't live without her.

Seriously? How long do you know her? A month or so? 


There is also Claire . The best friend who is always there for her and totally knew about most of Helens powers all along. Isn't it a bit ridiculous? 'Oh, I knew you could fly! I pushed you from a roof when we were kids, but that's just normal. ' Even if she knew about those things from the beginning, her reaction just wasn't normal. 

To be fair, I liked some of the characters. Hector and Cassandra were somehow cool. At the beginning i liked Jason too, but he just ruined everything in the end. 


 The romance 
This book wouldn't be that bad if Angelini didn't make the romance so cliche and predictable and unrealistic. They can't stay away from each other. They can't live if they are not together. Blah, blah, blah...

And don't forget creepy. Creepy is the foundation of their relationship. There is the stalking thing of course. He sleeps on her roof. He follows her everywhere. He listens to her conversations. Dude, that's sick, don't you think? BUT THIS ISN'T EVEN THE WORST!  ''She decided that if Lucas was gay then she was going to have to get a sex change operation. He would be so worth it.'' Do I need to say how disturbing that is?


 The plot  
In the beginning I was quite optimistic with this book. I enjoyed the first 100 or something pages. You know, the part where they wanted to kill each other and hated each other? That was interesting. And that is the only reason this book got 2 stars instead of 1! But the rest? The only thing I have to say about it is 


Why couldn't they just continue with the hating?
Why did I pick this book up, for fucks sake?!

That's it guys. I can't handle it anymore.

Starcrossed: Review I love anything about greek mythology and this book is no different. This world building off the bat was mostly strong their are still some aspects of how people become demi gods that confused but  i am hoping my confusion will be cleared up in the next two novels. 
 
I really liked learning about helen and the demi god world from Lucas and how it seemed their relationships is already fraught with peril. i liked how the author really kept helena family in the loop even though the father was not directly part of this world. It makes me curious to find out who here father is now that we know she is no related to Lucas. I think that is may bring a lot of harm this these two characters and can't wait to see the fall out once the truth is out in the open.
 
I really fell hard for the character of lucas and hope that he gets to find his happy ending so way so how.

I hate to give this book such a low rating. I had wanted to read it for a while and figured since it was one of the books on the Binnannual Bibliothon's list that I would finally read it. I was so let down. Don't get me wrong, I think the writing was wonderful, its just the story didn't do much for me even though it had so much promise. I also felt nothing for any of the characters.

okay so im kind of confused with the ending but whatever, will there be a next book?

I really wanted to like this book. Really. It started off very promising but lost steam along the way. I'd give it two and a half starts if possible... very meh.

Wow! Goodness, this book was a whirlwind of emotion. Honestly, the whole "we can't be together, something bad will happen" has been used many times before, but Angelini has definatly outdone herself with makeing this book unique. I have never actually read any of the Percy Jackson books, (*gasp!* Sue me.) so this is the first actual books similar to that, that I've actually read. Normally I felt like I'm right along with the rest of the story, sitting with the characters, but unfortunatly, that didn't happen this time, which honestly sucks. That was about the only part of this book that I didn't like. That and the ending. I felt like the ending went by wayyy too fast for me. I felt like one minute they were escaping from their uncle (?), then they were at the Delos house, and then Helen and Lucas were at her house. I felt like my hair had was wind swept the entire time. The overall romance, and edge-of-my-seat suspence that endured the entire novel was amazing, and I honstly can't wait until I get the chance to start on the next book, which (hopefully) will be later on tonight, after I upload this to my blog as well. 

But because of some grammar errors that really stood out to me within this book, along with the quick event changes (I swear, she was turning 16 in the very beginning), I can't give this book a 5/5, so I'm sitting here, hurt that I have to give a book, that had a beautiful story line, and cover 3/5.

I honestly couldn't put down this book! It was incredible and intriguing from the very first page. I loved the idea of a never-ending circle of mythological figures. I loved all of the characters, and Helen was such a great main protagonist. The only reason this book got four stars and not five are the ending chapters because I was feeling a bit "meh" about the ending. However, I'm really interested to see how everything resolves in the next book.

I read this book nearly 10 years ago and I really enjoyed it back then bec enemies to lovers lmao. This second time around, it was alright but it felt way more Twilight with demi-gods than I expected.

I read this book when I was in high school. Now I reread it again because I could hardly remember anything that happened. Falling in love with this book all over again is just what I needed. Lucas and Helen was a nice change to the other books I read this year. Claire made 2021 just better again with all her sarcasm. 

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Especially if they love Greek Mythology like I do. This trilogy will just kick their minds over in high gear to try and figure out what god fits in where like it did for me the first time I read it. 

I will definitely reread these books anytime
