i thought i would absolutely love it 3

it definitely started out great but the characters just kept on being annoying & making dumb decisions 

i get the guilt of mc but i don't get why she's go this far, why she'd risk her life for someone she barely knows, someone who literally set her up & refused to open her fucking eyes

im also deeply unsatisfied with the ending, i do not give a fuck about richard's trauma, it doesn't excuse what he did. electric chair period

& the plot twists in the last pages were so weird & unnecessary. it gave "im adding a plot twist just to add a plot twist", absolutely no substance to it
actually most of the plot twists felt like that 😬

(by the way the timeline change was so confusing, the random flashbacks too)

but the book definitely got some good aspects. i really liked how immersive it was & the way it made me feel the emotions of the characters : fear, anxiety, pain.

This is a must read for fans of Behind Closed Doors. Nellie and her husband Richard have divorced, and Richard is now engaged to Emma. But is Richard really the catch he seems to be? There are many twists and turns throughout this book, most of which I did not see coming. It is a good, suspenseful read which I highly recommend to adult readers.

When I first started reading The Wife Between Us, I was like, crap, this is another The Vanishing Year, because the characterisation of the leading characters and the marital dynamic between them was practically identical to that book. And I hated that aspect of Kate Moretti's thriller. I mean, you have this rich, handsome, powerful husband, who may look like an ideal spouse, but anyone with even a little understanding of what constitutes a healthy relationship should run for the hills upon encountering his creepy, manipulative, controlling tendencies. You are also introduced to a naive, neurotic wife whose general appeal is akin to a deer mesmerised by the oncoming headlights. She is pretty hard to root for. A novel about a Cinderella romance going horrendously wrong is not a new concept, but the further I read, the more I started to see past the cliches and into the gripping narrative worth a notice. 

The first major twist was not hard to guess when you pay attention to details, but then the novel starts to gain major momentum and surprises you with some genuinely unexpected curveballs. I enjoyed that even the littlest details mentioned in passing made much more sense in the finale, or how the characters actually developed past their introductory points. Initially, I wanted to give this thriller 2 or 3 stars, but now I have to upgrade. So glad I decided to continue after the first impression left me a bit cold.

What a snooze fest! This is a basic bitch thriller for basic bitches. Literally nothing happens, and when you think something might, it doesn't.

the pacing of this was so weird but i really loved the twists and turns. definitely one of my fave unreliable narrator books but it was just so slow at some points. did a great job of tying up loose ends though.

This book took me on a trip with my feelings and my heart. As a person that normally doesn't read thriller, I wasn't sure what I expected. The book itself told me not to make assumptions but of course, I did make assumptions. I assumed I knew what this book was about and I assumed I knew what was going to happen. But I was so wrong. 

Just when you thought the twists would stop coming and I could breathe for longer than two seconds. bam! Another reveal. This book was like a puzzle, one of those giant 1,000 piece puzzles, where all the pieces looks the same and you're trying to figure out to build the border (because that is what you do when you build a puzzle; you start with the border). I felt like I would never truly figure everything out and I wouldn't find those corner pieces. But in the end, I was able to find the pieces and build that puzzle. 

What contributed to making this such an intense thriller was an unreliable narrator. I haven't had that much experience with an unreliable narrator so this was kind of a new thing for me. I never knew what to believe from Vanessa. She was constantly back and forth with her emotions. But I found that I didn't mind it. It added to the suspense of what was going to happen to next. I never knew what to truly believe and that made this book all the more spooky and terrifying. 

I don't know what I can even talk about because everything seems like it would be a spoiler. But I will mention the trigger warning for a second. There is domestic abuse and it's mentioned pretty frequently. It's something to be careful for as I know that domestic abuse can be triggering. 

Other than that, this book was incredible. I never knew what to expect and was constantly surprised by what happened. There were times where I thought I had figured everything out but nope. I was always proven wrong. I highly suggest that everyone pick this book up when it's released. It is truly a work of art.

This is a tough one to review. Although there are several unexpected and well crafted twists, there was just no real excitement. It does keep you turning the pages looking for answers but I just didn‘t feel suspense the way I would have liked.

hell. no. i was excited for like the first 200 pages to see where the story would go and it turns out - it went nowhere. both plot “twists” were so anti climatic i was like ok? that’s it? this was not thrilling in the slightest. and then the last 20 pages they through in like 3 random ass twists with little to no explanation? for what! anyways. this was a struggle.

This book gave the perfect amount of information from the beginning to keep you hooked, and then completely flips what you believed to be happening.

Ok so this is definitely a crazy twisty book that goes maybe one twist too far towards the end, but I really enjoyed it. Especially on Audible!

I was super excited to read this book, I had heard so much about it. You try to figure out the truth from the beginning of the book, making assumptions throughout. It's many psychological shifts make it an enticing read. However, I felt that I had to get to the last 100 pages for the book to finally be good and interesting. Although it is a different kind of domestic thriller, in the end, it was the same story just told differently. Its a popcorn read, but not one I would place at the top of my list this year.

It was a slow start for me, but I couldn’t put it down once I got into it. Great thriller!

wow this was gripping. i can see why people might be disappointed in this, but i definitely was not. i loved the twists that this pulled off, was incredibly invested in all the characters, and loved the pacing. it felt like it was a slow unraveling of a messy bundle of threads and i loved that. i think the only reason for me that this isn't 5 stars is because i sort of wanted it to go a little darker at the end especially. but it was really good.

This one fell flat for me. The twists were predictable and that one twist in the epilogue just felt so unnecessary. 

I listened to the audiobook of this one and I was thinking “my god this is a long book” but when I checked the published page length I came to the realization that nope, just dragged a lot. Felt like we were never going to get to the end, just consistent talking around it by the main character. Could definitely have probably cut 100 pages of this and still had the same affect. 

It was still entertaining though and I spent the day reading it so I think I’d still recommend it, just don’t go into it with all the hype that has been surrounding it. 

One random spoiler thought that I must briefly mention:(view spoiler)[As soon as we met Marlene and got the description of her relationship with Richard I was immediately creeped by the not so subtle incesty vibes. By the end of it I was 100% on that theory train and I feel uncomfy about how that plot point was left unfinished ….  (hide spoiler)]
