This is an interesting one. I love Tim Gunn and adored his fashion book (though I fail to actually follow his advice, ha) and this one is part self-help, part-biography. I feel like I learned a lot about his childhood but there was also a lot of gossip about other famous people. His rules are pretty solid though.

Three stars because even though I might be tempted to give it only 2. I love Tim Gunn and even though this is badly ghost written, I could still feel his voice whispering over my shoulder to, you know, make it work. While he congratulates himself on how nice and well-mannered and honest he is (ad naueseum), he also is a bit petty and he doesn't like unions. But as they say on reality shows, "it is what it is".

A mixed bag of frothy nonsense and motivating stories. Tales of art school and Project Runway production are far more interesting than stories of high society and gossip. Made me pine for New York.

I didn't expect this book to concentrate so much on etiquette but it did and reveals Gunn to be such a gentleman, which I believe he is. I haven't come across many books on manners before, much less one with a fashion slant. At certain points in the book, I can't believe he actually published stuff about a few characters though there was nothing legally wrong with doing so. He seems so darn honest.And proper. 

I enjoyed it, for the reminders of etiquette and snippets of what goes behind the scenes at Project Runway and in Gunn's life. An easy read.
