But before he can crack the case, Fletcher finds himself framed for a serious crime. To clear his name, he will have to pair up with the unlikeliest of allies and go on the run from the authorities. Fletcher has twelve hours to find the guilty party--or he is the guilty party.

Colton Ray

One of my favorite books as a kid. I loved the private detective aspect of the character, the great mystery, and the memorable characters. Recommended for young boys who have grown tired of the Hardy Boys.

I’ve been meaning to read Eoin Colfer’s Half Moon Investigations for a while. He’s my favorite author, and I finally got to read it. I was not disappointed. All his books are just as good as the Artemis Fowl series. Sarcasm, wit, humor, action … I love them. 

There weren’t many flaws in the book. Every bit of it kept me engaged, and I’m heading off to find the TV series right now.

I didn't like this book as much. I liked Artemis Fowl a lot because of how Colfer wove together humans (or Mud Men :D) and the People (fairies). The extreme danger that Holly and Artemis usually find themselves in culminated usually from the conflict between the aforementioned groups.

In Half-Moon Investigations I simply see Fletcher Moon as another reincarnation of a typical pre-teen kid turned detective. I could list all of the various incarnations but there's really no point in that.

Granted, the story had all of the plot twists and turns that I have come to expect from a Colfer book but I simply wasn't as drawn into the story. Perhaps Colfer should stick with little boy criminal masterminds starting to turn good because Fletcher, as a goodie two shoes from the beginning just wasn't as convincing.

In conclusion, I strongly recommend the Artemis Fowl books and if one still wants more written by the same author than I would advise him to pick up Half-Moon Investigations.
