This is extremely niche, but it’s a very interesting look at a cultural obsession I never would have known about otherwise. It is fascinating to see how the Indigenous subjects interviewed here have learned about and processed this German weirdness and their experiences when visiting a culture that fetishizes their assumptions about Indigeneity. It’s also revealing that even in what seems to be a fairly welcoming place racism still rears it’s ugly head. If anyone somehow needs a reminder that systemic racism is literally inescapable, here it is I guess!
