This was a really insightful read not only into the murders themselves but as to the level of work, time and effort went into the court case. Whilst I can also tell there is a massive bias with this being written by the district attorney who prosecuted Manson. I feel that he did an excellent job in explaining his reasoning with a massive amount of research. I do feel it possibly went on for a bit too long with both the epilogue, afterword and level of detail. Overall a really intriguing read and possibly the most involved account of the Manson Family Murders.

After my interest being initially sparked by the documentary which is on Netflix (and would highly recommend) I found myself wanting to know more about this case and thought what better way to learn about it then by the main prosecutor himself, who coincidentally died last year but has left a brilliant and in depth book for readers to enjoy. 

First of all I think it's worth noting that this book is purely on the crime case and not the background of the individuals involved. Yes it does touch on life before the family existed but very briefly. The bulk of this book is the investigation, the trial and all the countless people that were involved. 

And because of that, this book is heavy (literally too). Towards the end I did find myself having to plod on through, but the main reason for that was because of the vast amount of detail, there really is no stone that is not turned in this book, which means it's the most detailed and full account of the Manson murders probably to have ever existed. 

I really would recommend this book even if you're not that interested in crime generally but are interested in the Manson murders specifically.
