I picked this up at a lovely second hand bookstore while visiting an island with my girlfriend. I was a bit tight with money at the time, as it was the last days of our trip, so I hesitantly put it down and left. Hours later, something prompted me to go back and find it. I was so anxious someone else would’ve snatched it before I got back to the store, that I was dragging my gf’s hand in the streets of Naxos to get to the bookstore as fast as possible. I’m very happy I managed to go back and my gf ended up buying it for me. Now! Back to the review. 

This story is heartbreakingly beautiful. Such a simple story that truly leaves its mark in your heart. Although sad, the ending leaves you feeling hopeful that there’s something better waiting all for all of us at the end of the road. Reading Nana’s POV was always delightful. A story about finding and choosing your person again and again until the end. A story about family, friendship, and the simple joys of everyday life through a cat’s eyes. I definitely recommend this gem and can’t wait to read more from Hiro Arikawa.

this is so ... full of hope. a story about a cat and its master finding each other again and again and again. it’s a story about friendship, family and just our relationships with other people and how we can affect each other. had a good cry at the end, what a ride.

I thought it was a fictional novel at first, turns out that I was wrong.

during his travels, he meets various people like his childhood friend and his first love.
about the bonds we share with family, friends and our pets.
The story is deeper than it seems.
It touched me, you'll cry while reading it "If you're a sensitive person like me".
It worth the time I spent on it.

you don't have to be a cat lover to enjoy it.

Easily one of my favorite books (that has a cat as part of the characters).

this is one of the best book i've read in a long time, and one of my favorite books in the world

i don't know how much i can say, because i've literally just finished and can't stop crying my eyes out but this book is everything. i don't think i've cried so hard over a book before. nana's and satoru's love for each other is the purest kind of love, and being able to witness that was such a special thing. i am so grateful for this book.

A very heartwarming novel 💜

As a cat lover, I can relate to Satoru in so many levels. I just hope that I also have his heart for forgiveness and understanding. I finished this book while crying my heart out and I will definitely recommend this book to everyone. One of my best books this year 💜🥹
