Und es ist der Grund dafür, dass Terrorismus augenblicklich bei Öffentlichkeit und Politikern gleichermaßen reflexartige Spontanreaktionen hervorzurufen vermag, während weit tödlichere, aber auch weniger spektakuläre Gefahren füir Leib und Leben ignoriert werden. 

Die französischen Streitkräfte hielten der Belagerung zuyei Monate stand, bis sie überrannt wurden. An interesting book on the history of humans and what we do without thinking of the consequences.

This is one of the most relaxed nonfiction books I've read in a long time. I really appreciated the conversational tone in the book, not to mention how often he would speak directly to the reader. As someone who likes to casually read or watch historically themed media, this book had just enough details to not be boring. I learnt a lot of new information, but it wasn't overly "textbook-like". I hope the author writes more books in this style because I think he's quite informative and given his credentials, I know he is very capable of this feat.
