As with most Klosterman books, some of it is great and some of it is abject nonsense. I'd give this 2.5 stars because he gets pretty lazy in some of these pieces. And he admits it, which is somehow so much worse. 

Also, I like reading his books because I can't tell which of us is more abnormal. I don't spend half the time thinking about serious things that he seems to dedicate to some of the most useless minutiae in the world.

As someone who has long been obsessed with the villains of pop culture this was an interesting read. It was a little too sports centered for me, but I still highly enjoyed the book. My favorite chapter was probably the one on the Clinton affair.
