For his first novel, you can tell there was much to improve on plot-wise, but his style of writing just shows he has true potential as a writer, something he goes on to prove with his later novels. Despite having to suspend disbelief at various points throughout the novel, I really enjoyed it! It's a real page turner and the writing is so poetic, beautifully written. He uses the French language to its full beautiful and, at times, philosophical potential making it an enjoyable yet thought provoking read.
