The perfect book for amateurs or who wants to know more about Wellington flora and vegetation. It would be also the perfect textbook for university courses regarding New Zealand and Wellington botanical features. Every type of vegetation is briefly described in terms of ecology and human impact. Detailed information on where to find every vegetation type are provided, along with lists of dominant and endangered species. Cons? In many cases, the author used either Maori or English plant common names, in other cases she used proper Latin names. This inconsistency makes often difficult to follow since many species have similar common names. For instance, Old man's beard is at the same time the name of an epiphytic tropical species (Tillandsia usneoides) and a European invasive species in New Zealand (Clematis vitalba). Another case is the Mingimingi, common name of at least three native species, belonging to different genus (Coprosma propinqua, Leucopogon fasciculatus and Leptecophylla juniperina).
