That’s the last I remember of them and the last moments of the dream. 

Right before it turns into my nightmare. 

The one I can’t wake up from, the one that tells me that this isn’t a dream at all. It’s the memory of a day I can’t scrub from my mind, no matter how hard I try.

What I did… running away from your Bonded, the people fated to be with you, that isn’t something that happens a lot. Or ever, really. Running away from the people that complete your soul, only a fucking crazy person would do that. 

I definitely don't have an eight-pack. I have a little pouchy tummy that says I enjoy chocolate too much when I'm hormonal and let me tell you, I'm not ever giving it up for a flat stomach.

It’s easy to distinguish them all from each other, even without the photos spread out in front of me on the table. 

Gryphon is scowling and grumpy looking, the scar running through his eyebrow standing out even more. He looks exactly like his photo, right down to the frown. 

Gabriel fusses with the coffee cup in his hands, just as nervous about this as I am, apparently. The smiling hottie is nowhere to be seen. I mean, he's still hot but he looks... miserable. 

North, the Councilman and the reason for my GPS chip, sits there in his perfectly tailored suit. He's the only one who's trying to mask the loathing a little. He's failing at hiding it but I appreciate the effort, I guess. 

Nox just keeps staring at me like I'm the worst thing that has ever happened to him. And, fuck, maybe I am, but at least I won't be the worst thing to ever be unleashed on the entire population of the country.

I can live with being hated. I hate myself enough to know just how easy it is to loathe me.

His eyes narrow at me in a glare and he mumbles, "Cold- hearted fucking bitch." 

So cold that I ran away from the people fated to love me to try to stop the end of the freaking world as we know it. Total fucking bitch.

Better to be hated and alive, better to be in pain than a murderer, better to be alone and safe.

She's so freaking broken, so much more than me. 

Or, I guess, she just wears her damage where we can all see it. I bury mine as deep as I can, as far down below my skin as possible, so I can pretend it's not killing me slowly, painfully, constantly.

He's also my favorite since this moment forward. ❤️

Gryphon has done everything he can to stay at arm’s length from me. 

My bond reaches out to him, straining against the tight restraints I have on it as I tug it away before I brush against him. There’s something about his distance and the way he’s kept himself away from me that makes my bond desperate for him. 

Something about being here, around these men I'm fated to be with, has lit a fire in me that I'm desperate to smother.

“I think you made a mistake and instead of owning up to it and making amends, you’ve doubled down on it. You should have trusted us… whatever happened in that hospital room that made you run away, you should have run to us instead.”

“Those opinions of yours tell me I did the right thing and I’m not pissed about it. You can hate me all you like because at least you’re fucking breathing, Gryphon. Please leave, I’m still exhausted from the healing and I can’t do this right now.”

My good feeling lasts ten more seconds before Nox walks in and sucks the good vibes right the fuck out. He looks good today too, hotter than Hades as he stalks into the classroom like some God of the Underworld, here to torment my goddamn soul. 

I need to get out of this town before my hormones lead me straight to hell after him.

And so I can't blame you, I'd be doing the same thing. 

Gabe grins at the rough, gravelly tone of my voice as he slings his bag down on the ground by the wall and strips out of his shirt. I do everything in my power not to watch the rippling of his insane muscles but I’m only human, and fuck, he really is too hot for words.

I spend the rest of the day messing around on my phone and trying not to lose my goddamn mind over being trapped here with all of these people I’m starting to… need. Fuck, I need them all. I need their friendships like nothing ever before and I’m completely screwed.

Something tells me there's more to it but... Meh, he is an asshole, I could be wrong.

I just about jump out of my own skin when North leans down to press a kiss to the top of my head as if I'm some precious person to him and I have to bite my tongue. This is all an act, a display of unity and control so that there’s no question of his power and integrity.

I like the concept but I dislike the writing style. I also wanted more to be revealed in book 1. It just seemed repetitive when a really good story could have fit into that amount of pages.

I feel like I got into this blind. Well, I kinda did cause I knew it was a Reverse Harem but I didn't know it was also a slow-burn romance. So I'm here. Eye twitching because of all the sexual tension. Like whyyyyyyyy? And then when something happens it's ripped away. Fuck me. 

Oli isn't your typical FMC. People think she's a brat, selfish, and likes to run away. But she's actually this girl that had something terrible happen to her and wants to keep everyone safe. And no one seems to believe her. You guys have no idea how I've struggled with that but given that I'm a bit of a masochist, I've also loved that. I like the angst, the tension, the power struggle between her and her guys. I swear if it isn't worth it in the end I might just die but I'm here for it.

There's something about J's writing that always grabs my attention. I couldn't make myself stop reading. I was so deep in the story, the characters, everything that I didn't notice I was finishing the book. It's absolutely incredible. An original story, truly. Great writing as always, diverse characters (loveable too, maybe not all of them but you get the idea). 

4.5 stars!!!

I'm already reading book 2, so yeah.

I was just randomly scrolling through kindle unlimited when I happened upon this book and it was so freaking good! It’s such a unique book and story line and I was always guessing on what was going to happen next 10/10

I really liked the premise of this, and the characters and world-building were strong. HOWEVER, I was a bit ticked off that the most spice we got here was some shady/noncon hand stuff. I will be very interested to see where this goes--I feel like book 1 set the stage well for this series to take off.

Read this per a friend’s recommendation and it was very fast paced and the story line/ plot was very interesting. There was spice but not so much that it ruined the plot / had no plot so I felt like it left enough mystery. There were some triggers but she lets you know beforehand which is so helpful!

This book deserves 5 stars. I'm in the slumpiest of slumps and have been putting down book after book. I decided to try J Brees new release since I love her writing and BAM. I finished this book in 3 hours

It’s been a couple of days since I finished this book and I’m still thinking about it. After seeing a fellow book lover rave about this book and seeing that cover, I knew I had to pick it up. And I’m glad I did!! I was hooked from the very beginning to that ending. I loved everything about this book, the characters, the plot, and the setting. I’m torn on reading the next book right now or just waiting till December when the third book comes out because I don’t know if I can wait after the cliffhanger I know book 2 is going to have. 

Overall, such a great and fun read. Definitely on my top reads for the year!
