I really like Jane Green's books, and this one was no different. It was a fun story, great for summertime reading. What really bothered me, the reason I didn't give it four stars, was Green's description of Jemima. At 5' 7", 217lbs really isn't that "fat". I am 5'4", and at my heaviest I was 227 lbs. I was definitely overweight, but I did not have rolls of fat all over my body, nor did I have more than one chin. I was not a "lump" that "needed to shop in plus size stores". I'm very disappointed in how Green described Jemima.

Excellent book! This was one I just couldn't wait to get back to. Just sitting at my desk at work, knowing it was in my bag, was sheer torture!

I have to say I was somewhat disappointed with this book. I became a fan of Jane Green's after reading Babyville with her ability to engage me in so many storylines that all twist together. But that style didn't capture me the same way with JJ. The narration left something to be desired - one minute I'm reading from the point of view of Jemima but the next moment there is a no named narrator looking from above describing the scene (I kept picturing the movie City of Angels where the angels are sitting on the freeway sign watching the world). Then we are reading about Ben's feelings...and then it's back to "I went to..." I was left sitting there thinking 'who is this "I" person?!?!' I kept thinking there was going to be a Fishbowl (by Sarah Mylnowski) twist to this unnamed narrator but nothing ever came of it. And the "shocking" twist? I'm left stumped as to what the twist was. Everything seemed standard chick lit cliches. For a better twist I'll stick to Fishbowl. But for your everyday run of the mill decent story to pass the time? Now you've got JJ!
