i don’t understand what’s with jlb and tuning the second male lead everytime the mc gets with the other love interest but i need her to STOP.

this book was funnier to read than the first because we got less romance (slightly less but i want it GONE) and we got to see veronica sterling aka loml

“i didn’t care about the difference between active cases and cold cases. i cared about dean.”

i loved lia and cassie’s scenes together and hope in the next book they actual become friends because i hate when they argue. also dean deserves the whole world. i just want him and everyone else to be happy. 

the love triangle is over, thank the heavens. but if it re-starts next book i’m burning this series. <spoiler>just let cassie be happy with dean i’m begging.</spoiler>

This book really captivates exactly what I was hoping for when I started this series. I’m still a little iffy on how much Sloane is a copy of Dr. Spencer Reid (from criminal minds) but overall loved the dynamic of the group working together and showcasing their specialties when needed.

I will say it gets repetitive with the whole “I didn’t have to say it out loud, they answered me without me having to say anything” but considering they’re supposed to be there for their abilities, we let it slide lol

Now in terms of the romance aspect, I still don’t understand the chemistry of our main character with ANY of the two guys other than forced proximity 😭 and I did like that the love triangle aspect of this series is less random and forced in comparison to the first one. I still don’t understand why she had to choose so fast when she hasn’t known these people for that long but Michael giving her space to figure out what she was feeling really paved way to incorporate the romance in a way that made sense for her to connect with both of the guys.

Loving this series. Poor Michael can’t believe she chose dean over him although do love dean as well. LOVE SLOAN

I didn’t like this as much compared to the first one, probably because i felt like our main character wasn’t as involved but i wasn’t entirely correct. The end is where it got a whole lot better, and i really enjoyed those scenes. I just wish they went on for longer, because they really made me feel more emotions. I feel like a lot of it was just back and forth stuff as well. But overall i did really enjoy this book, there was hardly any plot twists i saw coming. I’m not so sure on the love interest but maybe it’ll grow more on me.

Finished this book in two days. I think that's I should say to convince you to read it

I AM IN LOVE IN LOVE IN LOVE WITH THIS SERIES! 💜🩶

This was just as good as the first book, and the author has done an exceptional job keeping the readers on edge with the tension she’s incorporated into writing this sequel. The found family is as strong and adorable as ever, and a little bit of romance on the side made this very hard to put down. And despite the clichés of a highschool cliqué, the Naturals’ relationship with each other and the comical banter would always remind me of why I love the found family trope. Also, one thing I noticed about this series is that every book is like a song with a beat that would never drop because it perfectly describes the unease in the characters and the ambiguity of the plot as the books expertly capture the attention of its readers. It gave me what I never thought I needed and for that, I love it even more.

Let’s just say that my interest in murder mystery books has increased tenfold and I’d never shut up about recommending this to anyone seeking a good thriller!

I seem to remember liking Dean in the first one. Hell, I went back and read my review and I said that I liked Dean. And I liked Dean in this one to, but...

MICHAEL. 

Yeah, that aside, I don't think the mystery in this one was quite as mind-blowing as the first. Like, the first book, TOTAL plot twist, did not see that coming, I was shocked. And I didn't see this one coming either, but the way that the mystery piled up just felt cheap and lazy. Sorry.

But I still liked this book, and I would like to read the next one as well, and maybe end up rereading them from the start.

it was kinda annoying reading cassie drag michael and dean along because she doesn’t know what she wants but ig it’s part of the story ? but STILL it was annoying as hell. 

hoping for a different plot on the next book plsplsplsplspls cuz so far the first book had the same one where they have a case, the naturals want to be a part of it, they force them to drop it, constantly telling them off to stop, they hit the ground, they’ve got no choice to ask for help from the naturals like at this point i just want to see them completely turn them down after they try everything in their power to turn their help down but that’s just my emotions talking.

i hated agent sterling at first but i’ve grown to like her while reading the chapters and i def didn’t like the mean girl persona lia was showing in the first few chapters but it’s all goods cuz i loved her character development. 

the ending tho.. i was disappointed at first when clark got killed and when they caught christopher cuz i was like that’s it?? kinda anti-climactic but i was wrong lol cuz the actual ending was slay (literally) 

i liked the first book’s ending more tbh with lacey and stuff like that. i didn’t care much about webber and the tension build up wasn’t as good as when i found out lacey was cassie’s aunt and stuff like that. 

cassie and dean are together now? i think they are? BUT MICHAEL… my baby, my baby.

Why did I put off reading this series for so long? This one was so good. It captivated me from beginning to end. The whole concept of this series I didn’t know if I was going to like or not but having read the first two already I’m glad to have really enjoyed them so far. I’ll be immediately picking up the next one exciting what is next to come in this series. I will also note, I’m so happy to have these original covers because for me these correlate with the story so much more from what I have read and am so happy to have them.
