This book was so cute. I loved it.
Yes. I loved this book, despite the complete lack of paranormal creatures and conspiracies.
Of course, a hot British dude makes up for that.
I love how this book just happened. It’s like, some cynical person out there will go, “Pshaw. Stuff like this doesn’t happen in real life,” but even though I’m pretty cynical, I’m not that person, cuz it was actually pretty believable, and then, at the end, it was like, “Yeah, that just happened.”
This book is told in third person, and Ann should read it.

This was a breezy read. Breezy in a way that it's like you're flying through the pages despite being bombarded with details, it still felt as if I was gliding through it all.  

I thought this book was pretty. Pretty but with substance... Because usually when you say pretty, it doesn't equate to being beautiful (bear in mind that I look at pretty and beautiful as two different yet somewhat similar things. Beautiful is in a whole higher level which includes the inside more than the out while pretty lacks substance and is only skin-deep. Shallow, if you may). A whole lot of substance is found in this tale. An example of which would be the family problems, what could've been, punctuality or timing or fate or destiny or whatever you'd like to call it (more of a minor problem but quite major as well since it influenced much of what has happened in the novel), and let us not forget the main idea... The relationships. I think that's what this book was mainly about. It talks about the complications of human relationships with a perspective that's budding out of its being broken and is now seeing the beauty within everything, looking at everything as if it's all slightly clearer now just because she let go. A fine moral lesson that has been taught in the nearing-the-end-half of this magnificent novel. Praises to Jennifer E. Smith!

This book made me so happy and giddy. The story and events were a bit cliche and predictable but if you want some books just to pass time this book is one of them. Also this type of books are the ones you bring on airport. Such a light read book and will make you feel better.

3.5/5 • this was so cute!! every time i read a jennifer e smith novel, it seems to be in a span of 24 hours because they're so short and i can't seem to stop. i actually started it as an audiobook and ended up finishing it with the paperback and (drumroll !!) i liked the audiobook better. docking off a star because the main character is annoyingly privileged and doesn't seem to realize, but i guess she grows? regardless, it was the entertaining fluff i needed

Kinda boring, cute romance, should’ve been more content between Hadley and Oliver considering they were sleeping most the time, had some comedic parts, understood the concept of them falling in love at first sight on a plane, liked how Charlotte (her dads new wife) is nice, didn’t like how it’s 3rd perspective.

I’d be lying if I said that I wasn’t intrigued by the title of this book. It’s one of the most unusual titles I’ve seen in a very long time and I saw many bloggers rave about it so I just had to pick it up and see what the fuss was all about. Sadly I was left a bit disappointed. I honestly feel bad saying that this book was overly hyped, but it was, at least for me. And I think I should come to the conclusion that the rule of “everybody likes this book” does not apply to me. I feel like Scrooge since I was left feeling a bit flat because of my response towards this book.

First off, I will say that the plot was unique; a story that takes place over 24 hours in romance format sounds a lot more lighthearted and warm in comparison to a 24 hour take of Jack Bauer chasing terrorists in either New York City or Washington Dc. Also the added bonus was that the story started at an Air Port. I enjoy going to Air Ports; everyone has a story to tell and I think it’s fun to imagine what the person beside you is like behind the Classy Suits and Designer Footwear. While the beginning of the book was promising, I felt the middle of it was filled with ‘filler’ chapters. Sometimes there were overly descriptive sentences that I thought were unnecessary. To be honest it actually took me a few days to finish this book because I just could not bring myself to pick it up and read it till the end. However today I managed to finish it (It’s raining in Toronto and the best way to endure being stuck indoors is to snuggle up in bed and read a book).

Even though it took me a few days to get past the filler chapters, I somewhat warmed towards it at the end. I liked the conversation towards the end between Hadley and her mother. I liked the honesty between the two of them and I enjoyed the appearance of Oliver again.

The title was definitely a bit misleading. There was hardly any ‘love’ in a romantic sense, rather there was an angry teenage girl struggling to figure out her emotions towards her dad that she hasn’t seen in a long time and to the new woman that she would call ‘Step mom’ in a matter of hours. While I felt for Hadley, I was left feeling a bit surprised by her reactions towards the end. She had all this pent-up anger and confusion and I wanted her to tell Andrew (Hadley’s Father) all of that; but she didn’t. Instead it kind of felt like she just pushed them down again without properly resolving the issues. I personally don’t feel like Third Person Limited narrative did this book justice. I feel like we only scratched the surface of Hadley’s character. She was generally likeable, but I felt like there was nothing more to her. I definitely wanted to know more about her and it was a shame we didn’t.

While I touched on Hadley’s character, I really liked Oliver! I thought he was a great character. He was funny, quirky and interesting. Oliver seemed more real to me than Hadley for some reason and I wanted to find out more about him. To be honest I liked Oliver more than I liked Hadley and I wish we got to learn more about him as an individual, rather than learning more about his dad’s infidelities. Also another thing that left my curiosity on the brink was the fact that we don’t find out how Oliver’s father passed away. I wanted to know what happened and I felt that it was only fair, because we know how Hadley’s father met Charlotte and how that story ends.

 I have to admit that I enjoyed the fact that Jennifer E.Smith included some quotes by Dickens. She definitely gets props for that from me!

Overall, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight was an ‘okay’ read. I wasn’t expecting an all out romance or anything like that at all, but I was expecting more interaction between Hadley and Oliver. If there was more interaction between the two of them, I think I could believe their relationship; but I didn’t. I didn’t think that Hadley was the right person for Oliver, because she was quite dull in comparison to his quirky personality. Also I felt as if their ‘relationship’ was the background story rather than being the prominent one. Instead it was Hadley’s relationship with her dad, that took up most of the story. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but if you’re going to call a book The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, you expect there to be more interaction between the respected individuals.

My Rating: 3/5 (The reason being that I didn’t completely dislike this book)

Very light read. 
It isn't a very complex story since it is basically a love story beginning set in a 24 hour period. 

I didn't like it that much but it was a fluffy kind of read. (I think it has to do with the fact that I read an absolutely amazing book with amazing world-building and awesome romances and so forth that I'm still in a book hangover)

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, despite the spectacular title, didn't blow me away. The story wasn't special nor was it unique. But it was a cute, light, and romantic read nonetheless. 

  "it's not the changes that will break your heart; it's that tug of familiarity."   

This story used a lot of contemporary romance tropes. Like starting the love story in an airport (because don't y'all agree with me when I say that airports are a mainstream setting for a romance story??). And, of course, the whole love at first sight thing. Which, by the way, actually didn't bother me at all because Jennifer E. Smith wrote it in a way that it was real and believable. I could really feel the connection Oliver and Hadley had, and I understood why they were so attracted to each other. This book was also a bucketful of cliche. But I've come to terms that love is a cliche. And, guess what? That's perfectly fine. And sometimes we readers just need to enjoy the story as it is, rather than using the critical eye and keep on digging up flaws. Sometimes we just need to take a step back and adore the story itself. This book was not the best. But was it entertaining and fun to read? Yes, it was. I think the characters were well-written. Their backstories were very interesting and moving. The storyline was so cute. It made me feel like I was straight up watching a chick flick movie.

I don't really think this book is about love, eventhough the title and the blurb tells you otherwise. I believe this story is about new beginnings, and that's what I love most about it. 

  "is it better to have had a good thing and lost it, or never to have had it?"

Hadley and Oliver fall in love on the flight from New York to London, but after a cinematic kiss they lose track of each other at the airport until fate brings them back together on a very momentous day.

This was what I needed after a dissapointment that is called Insurgent. I wanted something really light and cute and this delivered on both counts. It wasn't the best romance book I've ever read but it was a nice filler novel. Now if you are looking for something very steamy and heart-wrenching, you probably shouldn't read this book.

I only wish I could have gotten to know Oliver more. By the end of the book I liked him, but I didn't LOVE him.

I guess all that I would add is don't go into to this expecting too much. You should read a Sarah Dessen novel if you want something more complex.

I really enjoyed this book, way more than I was expecting. The whole thing was pretty adorable really, but the underlying serious themes were handled tastefully. I was a bit disappointed with the very ending, I'm not sure why, it just wasn't exactly what I was expecting. All in all I would say it was a good book.
