           This was so disappointing after the buildup in the first two books. I don’t get why they needed to save Sam’s soul, probably because I’m not religious myself. It’s like the entire book was about saving Sam’s soul. Which literally means, setting it free so it can enter heaven. He’s still dead tho. But apparently that’s worth killing yourself for? So that his sould can go to heaven? Jeez okay. Good thing she came back right? That would have been a bummer. Also, ofcourse she’s like one of the most badass creatures around, figures. 
On the upside: I do really like Layla and Roth together, they’re great.

I just finished Stone Cold Touch and I'm thinking HOW CAN PEOPLE NOT LOVE ROTH AND SHIP ZAYNE AND LAYLA? I mean, I am not even talking about the fact that Roth is crazily hot, she is so much better for Layla. Come on! He had done everything for Layla. 
1. He sacrificed himself for Layla's BEST FRIEND and LOVE because he didn't want Layla to live without him. 2. He stayed away from Layla even though he wanted him SO MUCH to keep him safe from Abbot. 
3. He didn't even say a word about Layla and Zayne -I mean, he didn't object which Zayne did everything to keep her away from Roth-
4. He didn't kill her even though the BOSS told him so
5. THE BEST PART he saved her ass from the Wardens and made a deal with the witches to save her, which I think will be trouble. 

I am not saying Zayne hadn't done anything for Layla but he is more like a big brother to her than a boyfriend. I like him, too -maybe not so much- but...

 THIS BOOK WAS PERFECT!  

I'm so upset this series is over!! I wish it was more than 3 books only because I'm going to miss Roth and Layla so much! Jennifer Armentrout is such a fantastic, brilliant writer and she ended this perfectly, of course!

Layla's "choice" takes place very very early on in this book so we got to see them be all cute together and it was everything! Ahhhhh 

 "Beautiful," he said, voice thick as he lightly trailed his fingers across my belly. "You are so beautiful Layla. And if I could pick one thing I could stare at for the rest of eternity, it would be you."  

I WAS IN SHIPPER HEAVEN!! It was so so cute and fun that we got to see their relationship flourish and grow to be the most kickass power couple there is! 

But really besides that this book was action packed, suspenseful, really fun, and brought out all the feels a last book should. I cried and I laughed and I fangirled so so hard. I loved each and every second! I couldn't put it down even when I tried to go slow because I knew this was it. Layla has grown to accept herself and be who she really is and I was so proud of her. And I loved how loyal cayman was to her and Roth. Just all of this book was great and Im so happy with the way everything ended. I'm going to miss this world so much! Another awesome series by the wonderful Jennifer Armentout! So perfect!

I’m so heartbroken this series is over. I loved these books so so much. It’s impossible for JLA to write a bad book. 

I love these characters. Layla’s progression throughout the books was so enjoyable to watch. I was great to watch her gain self-confidence and reach her true potential. 

The love triangle was definitely more common in this book. However, the dreaded decision Layla has to make occurs fairly early on in the book. That made me happy because it didn’t feel dragged out. It allowed the relationship with the chosen hero to revolve throughout the book. 

I do wish we saw more of Stacey in this book because she’s a huge part of Layla’s human life. If she wasn’t written into any of the books, I don’t think her missing would make any difference. Which is a shame because she’s such a funny character. I feel like everyone would enjoy the story more if she had a bigger part to play. 

My main criticism would be that the ending felt very anticlimactic. I can't say too much because I don't want to give away any spoilers, but it just left me feeling a little flat. Like is that it? Both the first two books ended up on massive cliffhangers so I think I was expecting abit more.

Overall though I love this series! I would 100% recommend you pick these books up. Just make sure you have the next one available before finishing because the cliffhangers are intense.

LOOOOOK, I’ve debated on what to give this book. 3.5? 4? WHAT FEELS RIGHT?

I just absolutely LOVED the first two books. White Hot Kiss was immaculate; Stone Cold Touch made me fall in love with Zayne, but something about Every Last Breath felt underwhelming, un-engaging... I found myself skimming through some of the parts. It’s still heavily tabbed because I did find parts I just absolutely loved and wanted to remember for next time.

I think my issue with this book was that because the love interests had found their way back to each other, it felt very much like the tension was gone. The banter also kind of lessened compared to the first two, and I think if that factor remained constant, I would have been more engrossed with the book.

It was a good end to the trilogy, but I would have wanted a stronger end because of how in love I was with the first and second book.


BUT LET ME TELL YOU MY FAVORITE PARTS:

1. THE FAMILIARS!! DUDE. the familiars getting drunk?! Bambi moving onto a windowsill and FALLING? Why did I love that so much 😂 She’s a whole ass mood; very peeved with the direction the book took for her, though

2. Roth’s capacity for love (even though some of it felt corny and just... eh—still love him)

3. Thumper throwing a tantrum LMAO. Idk, the familiars just called to me, yknow

Fine, 4 stars it is, but let it be known this was my least fave from the trilogy.

not spoiling anything but I'm SOOOO happy with that ending. Her choice was pretty clear around the beginning of the book but that didn't make it less engaging or exciting. I was thoroughly enjoyed every plot twist. It was an amazing read. The entire series is so well executed and easy to follow the arcs and was entertaining with likable characters. I don't regret giving this 5 stars.

The story of Layla and Roth comes to an end in this final installment of the Dark Elements series. After a shocking cliffhanger at the end of Stone Cold Touch, I couldn’t wait to see how JLA was going to finish this story. Every Last Breath was action packed and the perfect ending to this story. I had such a fun time reading and I can’t wait till I can dive back into this world.

JLA continues to wow with her writing. The plot is tense and is written in a way that keeps you on the edge of your seat as you try and figure out what is going to happen. This series is definitely classic YA and so I was able to figure out a few aspects, but I know had I read this at a younger age, I would have been totally wrapped up in trying to figure things out. I love the way she explains and details the events that take place. Everything is so vivid, that I completely feel as though I am right there with the characters seeing and feeling what they are. I love the innocence of these books and the ways that the youthfulness of the characters shines through. I love a good YA novel and Every Last Breath delivered in this area. 

Speaking of plot, the Lilin is on the loose and Layla must find a way to bridge the gap between the demons and the Wardens so they can bring an end to any destruction before it really begins. Layla starts to come into her power, which is amazing. I love the way that she is often unaware of the power that she has and the way that Roth supports her and helps her to figure it out. For a teenage girl, Layla makes choices that are mature and when I think about my decision if I was in her shoes I’m not sure I could make the same decision. Her choices don’t seem out of bounds, like a high schooler couldn’t make them, which is a testament to JLAs ability to stay in line with behaviour of a young person.

The characters in this series are loveable. I mean how could you not just adore Roth and the ways that he is always looking out for Layla and also encouraging her to be her own person. From the beginning, Roth has fully supported Layla and the way he treats her in this book further cements that he is the one for her. I really don't have anything against Zayne, except that he was not completely accepting of who Layla was all the time. I think their friendship is important and I am hopeful that in the Harbinger series, it is repaired. 

The Dark Elements series is wonderful! I loved every moment while reading and would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a fast paced paranormal universe with great characters and an intriguing plot. The characters are loveable making it easy to fall into the story. If you haven’t read this series, you need to!

So I finally got around to finshing this book. It’s definetly my least favourite out of the series. I feel like not a lot happened in this book. I do love the romance decision made so yay. I also feel like this book did wrap up the series in a good way, so it did it’s job.
