I have to say it again. I ABSOLUTELY love reading all of Jill Shalvis books! Like it makes my day greater. That's how you will feel after you finish her book. You will find such joy when you read her new book, The Forever Girl. 
The Forever Girl definitely starts off differently than the previous books in the series. But I am liking it so far especially since it's a group of close adoptive families coming together again. Let's start off with Maze.
Maze has always been known for the wildcard in the family. But looks can be deceiving especially when growing up with rough childhood and ending up in the foster system. So you cannot blame Maze for her little rough edges. I like them because you genuinely know what Maze is thinking no matter what. It may hurt your feelings but it's the truth for her. It does not excuse her when she messes up. Everyone does it but it's how you recover from it that matters. And she is trying her best when she reunites with her foster friends (aka family too). Nothing is ever easy when you reunite again because secrets can be slips especially when Walker reunites with Maze again.
There is so much tension between Walker and Maze that you can expect a big time romance between them. Walker may deny it all he wants but he ultimately knows that Maze is always an endgame for him. He was deeply hurt when she left short notice after they had a Las Vegas wedding. Shocker, right? But you know there is always more to the story. And we will get all of the deets when they hast it out because they will. You can feel it whenever they interact with each other when you read The Forever Girl.
The Forever Girl may feel different at first but it brings it closer than ever. We are getting the raw emotions when a former lover reunited together again. I have yet to come across a Jill Shalvis book I don’t love, and The Forever Girl was no different. Despite this being the sixth book in the Wildstone series, it works well as a standalone. In this new book, the reader meets Maze, Walker, Caitlin and Heather. The story began with them gathering for their yearly graveside visit, which began after the tragic accident that led to them being separated. Tension and guilt led to a massive blow-up creating a chasm within their relationship. Through it all, they never ceased keeping tabs on each other, though for a distance.

Three years later Caitlin is getting married, but her big day would not mean much if her family was not there to celebrate with her. She doesn’t want one day, so she devises a plan to have there for the week leading up to the wedding. Not only does she want them at her wedding, but she hopes to re-establish the bond they once shared before tragedy struck.

I had a great time getting to know these characters, who despite their imperfections and emotional scars, demonstrated strength and courage in facing their demons head on. They made mistakes along the way, but they owned it and were bold enough to make amends.

The Forever Girl took me on an emotional journey of friendship, family bonding, healing, forgiveness, second chances and rebirth. It dealt with hard-hitting issues, which readers can relate to. This installment came with a lot of anxious moments, however, Shalvis included some humorous situations which helped to lighten things a bit. 

Maze and Walker’s back and forth as they tried to work through their issues was enough to give the reader a whiplash. It warmed my heart to see them finally getting it right the second time around. The story also delivered a secondary romance, which I found adorable.
Overall, I had a good time with this story and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series. Fans of Shalvis will enjoy her latest offering.

Well, this was, as some of my fav reviewers have said, "aggressively fine." The audiobook narrator was fine but also didn't differentiate enough between the many different POV characters so I had a little trouble following along. There is an HEA for one of the main characters, and I liked that romance okay (between foster-siblings which was a bit ehhh but it was fine they met as older teens).

Good enough to listen to while playing Animal Crossing, but would not recommend or consider a "must listen."
