My rating is a reflection of my distaste for John Perkins. I'd have more respect for him if he had merely told his story and then perhaps ended it with a mea culpa. As it is I found his pattern of conflict, rationalization, justification, next project, a bit disingenuous.  However, I think his story is important and one that Americans should acquaint themselves with in light of where we are today as a country. If the facts are accurate we should be outraged that we have been manipulated. Also, too, we should examine our national conscience to determine why we were so easily manipulated.   A few months back, I heard somewhere that one of the big soft drink companies had begun doing business in Afghanistan. I remember thinking why the hell do the Afghanis need soda? It didn't sit well with me then and it definitely doesn't know.  If anyone has taken the time to verify/collect some of the sources he notes, I'd love to hear about the findings.
