"Alexander Drummond was of Scottish descent, and undoubtedly was born in Scotland , but emigrated to Ireland, and resided there sometime. We have it from the gravestone of his son Patrick, that his place of residence was Cappa. In 1729 he came to America with his family, and is said to have settled [in Maine] at what is known as "The Chopps" on the Kennebec River, not far from Day's Ferry, where he was killed by a falling tree, the following winter in 1730. He was a widower when he came to this country, and the name of his wife is not know."--P. 16. Descendants lived in Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maryland, Georgia, Wisconsin, California, Canada and elsewhere.
