The writing quality is fine, but I was bored to tears with most of this book. It relies far too much on false tension — if I had to read about 

 secret a character was hiding, I was going to lose it. Ohh they have secrets alright, but they won't tell you for 300+ pages. The amount of time in the present and the past should have been flipped, as the past was far more interesting than Olivia and her father having circuitous conversations every morning for 2 months.

Also, not a thriller. Don't pick this book up if you want a thriller! This is a family drama and a pretty dull one at that.
