I've read a few Longmire books in the past. Kobo had a special on 3 audiobooks for a good price, so this was book one of that set.

I do enjoy the characters and setting, though in this book, I noticed that Victoria really is kind of a bitch. Also these days I side-eye relationships between a boss and an employee. And no long sure that calling one character "The Cheyenne Nation" is the best way to go about things.

But it's easy listening. I finished most of it in a day.

I started to rate this one a star lower. And here's the thing if you want some advice from me. Read these books in order. There's evidently lots of stuff that happens in between book one and book six and knowing it will fill in some gaps and keep your brow from furrowing and wondering over some little insignificant comment that was made - but didn't really apply to the current situation. So I did furrow my brow and wonder at these comments and I'm trying to spare you. The problem was and is that a friend had lent me book 1 and book 6 and I didn't make the effort to go out and find 2, 3, 4 and 5 - but that's what I'm advising you to do.

But after all that - it still is a fun read. I'm crazy about Walt.
