A story from the same world as The Goblin Emperor. The protagonist, Thara Celehar, can have limited communication with the recently dead, and can also put ghouls to rest, by calling them by the names they went by in life.

Celehar is a bit of a sad-sack, but he has Reasons. In this story, he's investigating the murder of an opera singer. He also has to deal with a few other issues related to some of the deceased in his area.

The world of elves and goblins (as defined by Ms. Addison) is a peculiarly interesting one. It's easy to become wrapped up in Celehar's life. He has his burdens, but bears them as well as he can. So may we all.

I did a combination of listening to the audiobook and eye-reading the ebook. Somehow when I see the proper names written down, they seem difficult and outlandish. But when I hear them spoken by the good narrator of this book, they seem musical and interesting. But somehow I NEED to see the spelling, even though it doesn't aid me in pronouncing the names.
