4.5. been thinking a lot recently about holiness and obedience in relationship with grace, so this was a helpful little read! i deeply appreciated deyoung's gospel-centered framework of holiness, delineating with scripture what it is, what it isn't, how we are called to balance faith with works, the immense blessings of and motivations for upholding God's commandments. i found his analysis of repentance versus regret very grounding as well; from personal experience, godly grief is sometimes so hard to separate from worldly grief. 

in light of ephesians 1:3-4, we are saved unto holiness— capacitated through justification—a nuance i personally never really grasped. so here i stop and ponder the possibility of holiness, and the grace of God that empowers me to pursue such an end. increasingly i am convicted that as he reveals his character to me, i will grow in eagerness to become more like him.
