Honestly, I don't know what to feel. I read Noughts and Crosses in middle school for class and it was amazing and heartbreaking but you could feel all the hope that Callum and Sephy had for their love and for the future, for their daughter.
But this sequel (Knife Edge) is just heartbreaking, there's no hope, it's just sad. 

 

Which doesn't mean it wasn't incredibly well written and an amazing read. I couldn't put it down, I fell asleep on top of it cause I was reading until 4 am to know what happens next. It's wonderfully paced and switching between narrators (just like Noughts and Crosses did if I remember correctly). 
Honestly, I just hated Jude's parts, I kept hoping for redemption for him and some proof that he isn't just this angry, violence-obsessed guy, but it just didn't come. I'm not sure if we're meant to feel sorry for him or to hate him. But it was just painful to read his parts (omg I loved Cara with all my heart).

 

I'm fine... I'm totally fine ... I'm not gonna wash dishes while crying.... nope, not at all.

 

I definitely recommend (but still some trigger warnings for depression, mention of rape, racism (duh it's the theme of the book), abuse, violence (I'm looking at you Jude and I hate it), themes of suicide, infantile death (or honestly we don't know but that hurt me a lot).

This is only the second book in the series but I can say that this is my FAVOURITE so far. In my opinion, Malorie Blackman’s writing is unpredictable, which I absolutely adore. Her books are easy & fast to read which is perfect for a university student who has a lot of uni reading to do already. All in all, I am super excited to read the next book!!

What I liked: I enjoyed reading from the pov of Jude, we really get to understand him at what's wrong with him.

What I did not like: Shepy was kinda irritating in this one (however it’s totally understandable due to what happens in the first book )

General thoughts: With Noughts and crosses being such an incredible bok I was afraid this one was going to disappoint me but no, Malorie promised a book about hate, and that's exactly what it was and it still was amazing.Can’t wait to read the rest 🤩
