I am struggling between giving this book 2 stars vs 3 stars. Here we go again with another book that had all the makings of a book I should love. The protagonist is "just like me" - she's 31, in a job she worked hard to get but isn't sure she wants, isn't married, has no prospects on the horizon and has friends who are all getting married and having babies. But then the story takes a deep left turn and now we see WHY she's single. Shallow as all get out, selfish like no one else, and rude beyond belief but then believes it's ok to be that way because God is on her side (and here I must point out that we have lost the just like me vibe!) And that is where the story starts to go haywire for me. The secondary characters all seem wooden and not very well thought out. If I read one more label I was going to scream ("I threw my Prada in the car...I asked the cop where my Prada was...I held up my Burberry scarf...my Jessica Mclintock dress is off the rack - but it's ok because I'm in Vegas...look at my Jimmy Choo shoes. WE GET IT!) This is now the second Christian chick lit book I have tried and both times (2 different authors) I walked away with the vibe of "I'm better than you because I pray to God so now I'm going to sit here and tear you down because you don't wear designer labels or have a great job like me. And AMEN God has my back so I can do what I want!" And come to think about it? The author insulted administrative assistants and then tried to backtrack by saying to be nice to them because they have more power than you think..after typing this out I'm downgrading this review to one star.
