I'm not sure why many folks dislike this book. I thought Daniel Jose Older did a great job handling Solo, Lando, and Leia. And Last Shot is filled with action, hilarious dialogue, and features an Ewok slicer (oh, and killer droids - literally). The book is (mostly) set after the events of Return of the Jedi, and the plot revolves around a transmitter that Lando and Han have to team up and find before someone very nasty gets their hands on it. There are flashbacks regarding the first time that each of them encountered this transmitter, as well as flashbacks to its creation at the hands of a particularly disturbed Pau’an named Fyzen Gor. While peering back into the past, we keep an eye on the present as the former-smuggling duo assemble a new team to take on this unprecedented and particularly strange threat. At first, I found the flashbacks (done in the fashion of binary plots) to be distracting but it is easy to track once you get used to it. This was a fun ride with our favorite scoundrel and I highly recommend this book to any Star Wars fan. It tied in ideas from the prequels, OT, the new trilogy, and the spinoff Solo prequel very well. Daniel Jose Older should be proud. Next to Claudia Gray and Timothy Zahn, he is one of my favorite Star Wars authors right now. Please write more Star Wars books!

Not a fan at all of the multiple time periods all balled up together. It was quite a mess to try and figure out, and certainly was too much effort as a reader. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed the new characters Taka and Pikpa (idk about spelling b/c audiobook) though I think this book did Han’s character a bit of a disservice.

This was not the Han I was looking for. I'm tired of reading stories with Han and Leia separated, I'm tired of seeing Han as a self-doubting, not sure what to do with himself worrier, and I'm tired of seeing Twi-Lek women as the sexual fantasy of human men everywhere. I mean, with the entire Star Wars creature/alien encyclopedia used in this story, you'd think we could have a different sexual partner for Lando? 

Plus, with three different narratives set in three different time periods, I could barely keep up with where we were, who we were with, or what time period it was. There are many characters who have been mentioned in many other books/graphic novels/etc, and if you haven't read them, good luck.

Also, Han said "clap back." Okay, thought "clap back." No.

Sorry, not for me.
