Holy spirit activate, holy spirit activate, holy spirit activate activate. Alright let's go. 
1. I already went in not overly excited about this book from good morning, but I said let me put aside my " internalised misogyny"and read a female bully romance and oh my word was it awful. I love Dark romances but there are no-no's and too far gone places. Anything relating to sexual harassment and drugging are a huge red flag. I'm not a big fan of drinking because I hate relinquishing control, imagine how that must feel to lose control of yourself and you don't even know why that's the lowest of lows, top two and it's not number 2. 

2. Liliana didn't come off as cold and calculating as the author may have thought. Just catty and over all not very bright. She's annoying to read about and the only reason I continued to page 175 was because I didn't want to hold her to different standards than I would a male bully. But it was awful, she drugged Remy, another girl for Pete's sake to find out dumb information.

Jessica Coleman

Lee Jacquot may be a newer author but she is one to keep watching. Her debut novel was amazing. The plot and storyline kept me intrigued. I started this book with a preconceived notion of who each character was, but Lee spun me around in another direction, showing me to “not judge a book by its cover.”
I absolutely cannot wait for the sequel, which comes out next month.

Lee Jacquot’s debut novel, The Masks We Wear, introduced us to the world of Emerald Falls and the story of Spencer and Lily. The Masks We Break reintroduces us to the story of Remy and Blaze, Spencer and Lily’s best friends, respectively.

While The Masks We Wear was a bully romance, The Masks We Break diverts from the bully trope. I did initially expect Remy and Blaze’s story to center around bullying as well, but after reading, I’m glad that Lee didn’t go that route. 

The Masks We Break is considered to be a standalone novel, however it is recommended to read The Masks We Wear first, as it provides background to not only Remy and Blaze, but other characters and relationships.

Highly recommend. 10/10.

I was honored to be apart of the ARC team. So I received the book for honest review. 

This is the 3rd and final book in the series. The series can be read out of order. But I personally don’t recommend it and I’m slightly sad that I didn’t read the previous books before this but I definitely plan too. I just don’t see how the other hero’s are gonna hold up next to William 🤷🏻‍♀️

Amora is headstrong, stubborn, and feisty and has hated William for about 4 years now which hasn’t been a problem as they haven’t had to be near each other until recently now that they are both apart of their closest friends wedding. William is ready to burry the past but Amora isn’t for it. But it turns out they can actually be of some assistance to one another in there personal journey of figuring out there future. 

Enter the fake dating trope 💜

First and foremost I have never considered book boyfriends even with me enjoying a lot of the hero’s in the romance books I read. But William ! WILLIAM! Is my official ✨first✨ book boyfriend. 
William is considered a “cinnamon roll” but Pleaaase don’t let that fool you! He is spicy and giving 😏

I enjoyed Amora from the beginning because she has such a smartass mouth, maybe she reminds me of me 🤔 yes you can tell she’s more bark than bite because hello it’s a Mask (aka title.) But she had a valid reason for her ways one I am fortunate enough to not relate too. So although there was one time I wanted to shake her for her decisions it stems from an experience I cannot understand.
William doesn’t come off as a cinnamon roll at first because he was ready to give the sass right back to Amora but it doesn’t take long to see who he is. 
I think what I loved most about this book (William obviously) is the empathy. William is clearly an empath in my opinion which he seems to have got from his mother. The way he can see things in people and address it in a respectful and genuine way is so refreshing. Reading from his POV and how he can’t tell someone is feeling this or that and he doesn’t want to push to get them to talk they will when they are ready 👨🏽‍🍳💋

And lastly of course, there is spice! 
And is the spice gooooooood. It was not cringy. The banter ✅ just 💜💜


I finished this book with a smile. Looked at my boyfriend and said “I finished my book! It made me happy” lol
