I have three thoughts:

Stephanie Meyer is terrible at names. 

Edythe is a manic pixie dream girl, and Meyer changed basically nothing about the text, which means Edward is also a manic pixie dream girl. 

That ending was utterly brutal.

I think i prefered this book over the first twilight… I really liked the characters. Edythe was similar to Edward but no quite just like Beau vs Bella
I also liked how Archie’s visions were better explained. Some things were better written. 
It didn’t deserve a five star because it is still twilight so it is still cringe but oh well. Meyer did a really good job. She made her point : it a story about a human and a vampire, not a girl and a vampire. 
<spoiler> and the end… wow. Following Beau through is transformation was really different. It was beautiful how Meyer mixed love, sadness and grief. I felt so sad for Beau during his funeral but at the same time so happy that they have found themselves for “eternity”. <spoiler> I kinda wish there were more books following this storyline.

           Keeping up with my theme of vampires this month. ATwilight reimagined had so much scope for better and different “reimagining”. This was the same thing all over again with a few differences here and there. The major change? A gender swap! Wow 🙄
I couldn’t see it and prefer Twilight the way it is.

The fact that it took me almost a month to read a 380ish page book should tell you everything. The only reason for the second star is the alternate ending being slightly less dull.

this has been on my shelves for so long and I’m so glad I finally picked it up! going into the book, I was just expecting the edward and bella characters to be gender swapped but I was pleasantly surprised that every character was (aside from charlie and renee which I honestly found disappointing – charlotte and reggie would’ve been great!) I also wasn’t expecting the plot twist at the end but I’m so glad that stephenie decided to rewrite the ending so that the book was a slightly different story. overall, it was a fun read but I found myself missing alice and emmett!

Maybe I'm just gay but I preferred nearly ALL the characters with their genders flipped. It's such a fun read, loved the dialogue, loved the ending, honestly if this means I have bad taste then I'm SORRY.

Life and Death was an interesting retelling of Twilight, told with a male protagonist instead of a female protagonist. I definitely enjoyed the story for what it was and for what it represents within the world of Twilight.

The only way I was able to get through the story was knowing how it would end (I actually like the ending - it's the only reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1). 

Life and Death is literally the same as twilight with minimal change up until the last few chapters. I actually like Beau, and Edith sounded less threatening than Edward. While I was reading twilight I would stop and say RED FLAG! RUN BELLA, RUN! And with Edith she felt less creepy (that says a lot about how I view man). I'm actually interested in reading an essay about the changes that were "necessary" to make this gender bender more "believable" aka gender normative. 

I don't think this novel was necessary at all, but oh well... I read it

           This book was fun to read, but nothing special. I think it was interesting to swap the genders but after a while I just got bored because everything was so similar to the original Twilight. I loved the alternate ending, however it did seem rushed and just thrown together. It does seem like an impossible task to condense 4 books worth of history into 1 book. But I can’t really complain, I respect the author tremendously for just doing whatever she wanted with her book and I feel like that’s what every writer wants- to be so successful in your past creations that you can just throw caution to the wind and write whatever you want.

I stumbled across this book – which I had no idea existed until about 2 months ago – during a shift at the library and read the foreword.
I was intrigued but as I had a full reading schedule, I put it back on the shelf. By my next shift it had been taken out and so I put it on order – it finally came in mid-month so once I finished QoN I had to get on to it.

It’s Twilight, obviously, but it has a different feeling to it. Its not a new story, the events play out much the same way, but being a ‘one off’ the end is different and I think I enjoyed it more. Swapping almost every characters gender does so much more than adjust the wording. The dynamic is different, you warm to (or maybe not) characters in a different way and Beau is quite different to Bella. 
In the foreword, Meyer tells you that he doesn’t have that same chip on his shoulder and he doesn’t, it’s surprisingly refreshing.

I am still holding out that one day we may get Midnight Sun, but until then, this is worth a read for the Twilight fans out there.

When I started this book it felt like a big joke. I mean... Twilight but with all the sexes reversed? When you get to know all the characters it’s really funny to see how their names changed and how their characters stayed mostly the same. 
The plot was also kind of the same, but Stephenie changed some major things that I did NOT see coming. I liked it though. 

It actually was kind of confronting to notice my prejudices regarding sex/gender. The whole time I was having a hard time picturing Beau as a guy, just because he is introverted and clumsy and actually the same as Bella. The same with Eleanor (Emmet) but than the other way around. And I didn’t really like that about myself. 
When I got deeper into the book, it became ‘easier’. I actually was bothered that they changed the ballet-line. Guys can do ballet too. Why couldn’t Beau? 
I also LOVED Archie (Alice) and Carine (Carlisle).

Let me start off by saying that I think there was absolutely no need for this book to be published. It was a straight up cash grab and made by Meyers to show that her original book wasn’t sexist. That being said I wasn’t upset that I read this book. I felt more like a Wattpad story then an actual book.

The ending of this book saved the whole story. I like the ending of this book much more than the original. It felt ended and like there wasn’t a need for a second. I almost DNF multiple times but persevered and I’m glad I did.

I think Beau and Edyth as characters we’re changed just enough to make me feel like they were the opposite gender (could have used a little more effort however). But for almost every other character in this book it did not feel right and I kept imagining them as their original characters. Specifically Royale, Archie, and Jessamine. (Emmet as a female was pretty funny, also Beau seemed to have more of a crush on Elanore than Edyth ahaha) 

This book was easier to get through than Midnight Sun so that’s why I gave it a 3 but in reality it’s more of a 2.5. Then ending really saved it and pushed it to a 3. 

(Also Stephenie, girl, you seriously chose the worst names possible for this story I’m sorry)

I also found a couple typos where Meyers clearly copy and pasted from her original book. (Many he’s left she’s)
