This series is still going strong! The romance definitely takes up more space here than it did in the previous instalment but the suspense part of the story more or less balances it out. 

Here Jack’s past catches up with him as members of his former team are murdered and the mystery about Jaye’s parents thickens, especially now that her father is back in the picture. The series is well-crafted and character development is nicely done. Jaye in particular has evolved a lot since the first instalment and Jack is actually growing on me. I wasn’t particularly impressed with his alpha male personality in the first two books but he does seem to be getting better as the story progresses. Probably because he spends so much time with Jaye! ;) I love the constant banter, even more so now that it often involves Carver (a nice addition to the cast of characters). 

In this instalment everything is nicely tied up, with less plot holes than in the previous ones. The mystery is intriguing and makes it difficult to put the book down. Still, as entertaining as the suspense part of this series is, I think that what keeps me reading is Jaye. I just love her character, her humour and sarcasm. Each new instalment gives her more depth and she makes a great female lead. Can’t wait to read the next book in the series!
