Commoditization of workers is deceptively attractive for business owners, in that it looks like your labor cost can be driven down with more easily replaceable workers, but it's a trap because like all commodities, it's a race to the bottom, as others copy your business for themselves, and do what you do cheaper and better.

Godin's big idea in this book is for workers to embrace their art, so that they become an irreplaceable part of the business, and for businesses to accommodate, hire, and cultivate the odd-shaped but talented, rather than standardized cogs.

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars. 

This book invigorated and inspired me! The only real qualm I have with this book is that Godin introduced his ideas very early and then began to repeat himself. 

The only real qualm I have with this book is that it feels as though he is writing to meet a word count. Godin introduced his idea very early in the book, and instead of elaborating on how to become more indispensable, he continues to harp on the same chord for far too long. 

As I said, this book motivated me to put myself into embracing my creative side and inspired me to go in on my youtube channel. One way that Godin says to make your dreams become a reality is to do 3 things that help you reach your goal a day, and I must say that is excellent advice. 

Overall, I enjoyed this book, but it could have been wrapped up in 150 pages or less. I think everyone should read this book and embrace themselves as they truly are and not what society has made us think that we are.

This book is why I rarely give five stars in my reviews. It was just fantastic. The pacing is exceptional (short sections are great), and the message is crystal clear. This book is just like his blog (I think maybe these are some of his posts?), and I loved reading every single page. It made me rethink my relationship with work and what I want to do.
