This was one of my favorite books ten years ago. I was a bit apprehensive picking it up again because so many old favorites have disappointed after a second read. (Most recently, the Kit Shannon Series)

This book did not leave me disappointed.

In fact, I can't think of anything that I did not like about it. (The reason that I did not give it five stars is because there was nothing absolutely spectacular about it. I save that fifth star for the really good ones.) I know that some might have hesitations about the "miracles" that occurred in the book but I did not see anything out of place with them. The God I serve is almighty. Who am I to limit what He can do?

On that same note, the conversions also were believable without bordering on absurdity. Maire still struggled to understand and yet displayed a believable child-like faith.

While I would have appreciated a more nuanced villain than Morlach, I really enjoyed this book and look forward to reading the rest of the books in teh series.
