I originally read the Wake series many years ago and loved them. I couldn't get enough. Then a couple years ago I found out about this short story but never got the time to read it. Fast forward to now I am working from home because of the coronavirus and bored out of my mind and I decide to clean up my Goodreads account. Again I rediscover this gem. After a quick Google search I find it and finish it in less than 20 minutes...

I am giving it 3 stars because of my previous connection to the Wake series. Reading it now it didn't really click the way it did before. Had I read it while the first book was on my mind I think I would have liked it more. I would have liked it much more had we learned more about Cabel's past and built on his character instead of just his POV of the same moments in the book.
